Amanda Reads: 2015 Reading Challenge

Hey, internet people! It’s 2015, which means I’m revving up for the next year of reading. This will be my first full year without ANY school assigned reading (um, what?), so I’m taking to the internet to find ways to challenge my reading and keep in tip top shape during my year of service with AmeriCorps. My challenge to myself this year is twofold.

First, I want to really up the number of total books that I read. Last year, I read 60 books. This year, I want to really up that number and try to break 100. My definition of “book” covers graphic novels, audiobooks, short story collections, and novellas. I’m going for 100 in all, and we’ll see if I can’t write a post about all 100, as well.

Secondly, I’m trying to keep things interesting and read books that I might not pick up on my own. To that end, I’m taking Book Riot’s Read Harder Challenge. For those of you who don’t know, Book Riot is an awesome site devoted to books and reading–it’s one of my favorite places on the internet, and if you love books you should definitely check it out. I’m hoping to use this challenge to keep myself from simply reading the same old things (not that there’s anything wrong with reading what you love, but sometimes you realize you love things you didn’t know you would).

So here’s to 2015, here’s to books, and here’s to reading! Are you taking any challenges this year, or just letting the reading take you where it may? Either way, let’s go!
