Top 5 Tuesday: Top 5 Books of 2022 (So Far)

Welcome to another Top 5 Tuesday, book friends!

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Bionic Bookworm, now hosted by Meeghan Reads. If you’re interested in participating, check out their blog to get the details and the prompts for each week! Meeghan just released the prompts for July-September so you can read ahead, if you like knowing what’s next.

This week’s topic is an exciting one… top 5 books of the year so far! I had a mediocre start to my reading year but I feel like it really picked up for me in the last couple of months, which means it’s going to be hard to pick my favorite reads of the year. Hard, but not impossible! Let’s get in to the top five books of my year, so far.

Quick note: these are not ranked in any particular order, because choosing the best five was hard enough without trying to rank between them.

Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus

This book has a sparkling wit and wonderful characters. I could tell from page one that I would love it, and I was right. My full review is availble here.

The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow

Such a powerful book that weaves historical and mythical re-imaginings to create a story about women taking their power back. I didn’t write a review of this one because I couldn’t quite figure out how to capture my feelings about this phenomenal book.

Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree

A cozy mug of high fantasy and low stakes that I absolutely devoured. I hope Baldree writes a whole series of similar stories about retired adventurers opening the shops of their dreams.

Early Morning Riser by Katherine Heiny

Quietly hopeful, funny, and a little bit sad, this book celebrates the bigness within the small parts of life in a way I adored.

The F*ck It Diet by Caroline Dooner

A life changing anti-diet manifesto that will help you break the diet culture cycle and reclaim your life. You can check out my full review here.

Not as tough of a choice as I expected given how many “just fine” reads I’ve had this year so far, but still a few contenders! These five are my absolute favorites of the year, for a variety of reasons. What about you, book friends? What are some of the best books you’ve read this year so far?

  1. I loved Lessons in Chemistry too and you’ve given me several others to add to evergrowing TBR list! Thanks for sharing.
