Happiest of Fridays, book friends! I’m about to head off for a weekend getaway with my best friend, celebrating the fact that we bothed turned the big 3-0 this year.
Before I do that, I’m getting in all the snuggles and walkies with Azula. I know she’ll have a fun weekend hanging out with her dad, but watching her realize I’m leaving is so tough. Sometimes, she’s just too smart.

We had a busy week but still managed plenty of cuddle time on the couch. She had a nightmare or heard something scary the other night and climbed up into my arms at 2am, which was both adorable and kind of annoying. Thankfully she slept well last night and had a nice morning chewing her bone while I read No Funny Business on my Kindle.
Speaking of the Kindle, it’s coming with me on the road trip along with two print books. I consider this to be the epitome of restraint, given that I often wind up with a huge bag devoted only to books. The No-Show and Initiated: Memoir of a Witch are coming along for the ride. We’ll see how much of the trip ends up being reading time versus hiking, chatting, and checking out the sights.
That’s all for Azula and I this week, as I need to finish loading up the car and giving her many a kiss on her cute little snoot. Hope you’ve had a great week and a good weekend ahead, book friends!
Oh poor Azula getting left at home! I hope you have a great time, though, and enjoy some nice weather (while reading!)
Have a wonderful weekend away! Enjoy your books. I know Azula will be so happy to see you when you get home.
Have a great weekend away with your friend! My dogs always know when I’m leaving too.
