Top 5 Tuesday: Books with Crowns

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Bionic Bookworm, now hosted by Meeghan Reads. If you’re interested in participating, check out their blog to get the details and the prompts for each week.

This week’s prompt is Top 5 books with keys on the cover. This is another one I’m going to struggle with, as I associate crowns on the cover with fantasy, which I don’t really read as much as I used to. Let’s see what I can come up with.

The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot

Yes technically the cover features a tiara but I’m counting it because Princess Mia Thermapolis is the OG royalty I read about when I was younger.

A Clash of Kings: Song of Fire and Ice Book 2 by George R.R. Martin

A thing you should know about me is that I never watched Game of Thrones, but I did read the first two books and make a hobby of reading fan reactions to new episodes every week. I liked the first book well enough, though the rotating character perspectives got old for me as I didn’t want to spend time with some of them. It took me a while to get through book two because of this, and it’s the best reason I can give for why I never finished the series.

Trickster’s Queen by Tamora Pierce

I remember very little about this book but I remember enjoying this dualogy when I was younger. Tamora Pierce was one of my favorites, and while the cover I recall isn’t the one I’m seeing these days, I am pretty sure both editions featured crowns.

After much thought and some mild googling, these three are all I’ve got! What books can you think of that feature crowns on the cover?

  1. This is a tough one. I read The Red Queen and The Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard (others in the series have crowns, but I haven’t read them), and Fairest by Marissa Meyer. I do love The Princess Diaries cover and have read that one.
