Top 5 Tuesday: Books with Bones

Happy Tuesday! I’m back for the final cover scavenger hunt style Top 5 Tuesday! Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Bionic Bookworm, now hosted by Meeghan Reads. If you’re interested in participating, check out their blog to get the details and the prompts for each week.

This week’s prompt is books with bones on the cover. As soon as I saw that, I thought, well here it is, the week I can’t think of or find a single one. I’m thinking thrillers are dark magic when I think books featuring bones on the cover, and I don’t read much from either of those genres. Then I remembered a book I was assigned in my humor writing class and how much I hated the cover, so there’s at least one!

When You Are Engulfed in Flames by David Sedaris

This book was my introduction to Sedaris, and to the concept that “nonfiction” wasn’t synonymous with textbooks. Thank you, humor writing class in college. That said, I always hated carrying this book around. Skeletons aren;t my jam.

And… that’s all I’ve got! I did some Googling and some perusing of my shelves, but I don’t think I’ve got any other books to offer for this prompt. I can’t wait to see what others come up with… even if I don’t particularly want to see bones.

Can you think of any books that feature bones on the cover?

  1. This book looks very interesting. I am putting this one on my TBR. You should check out the book Old Bones By Douglas Preston. It was a great read!

  2. I don’t think I’ve read any books with bones on the cover, but I bet there are a lot in the Horror genre.

  3. I checked my read shelf on Goodreads and found The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco, Deja Dead by Kathy Reichs, Bare Bones by Kathy Reichs, Cross Bones by Kathy Reichs and The Bone Collector by Jeffery Deaver.
