Happy Friday, book friends! Today is another Friday off from work, and I am grateful for two three-day weekends in a row. This time of year, I really need them. I’ll still be holding virtual office hours for my Intro to Writing students, but at least I don’t have to deal with my morning commute.

It’s been a blur of a week with a ton of work to do, and I am exhausted. I’ve been whizzing through audiobooks as my commute continues to be a frustrating mess. Pittsburgh has become home to me in many ways, but the infrastructure of this old city is definitely showing its wear and tear, and we’ve got all the construction projects to prove it.
On Monday, I had to reroute my drive home thanks to a gas line break closing the road I normally take home, making my 45 minute commute well over an hour. When I wasn’t frantically trying to figure out where the heck to go to get home, I was enjoying my audiobook.
In the evenings, I’ve been enjoying the cooler weather and couch cuddles with Azula while getting some reading done. Last night, Mr. Your Book Friend joined us for a nice family reading hour before the Steelers game started.

In all, another “busy but business as usual” kind of week for us. How was your week?
My week was hectic but good! I hope you guys enjoyed the gamw
Glad you had a good week! When the game started, I went to bed lol. I think Andy enjoyed it well enough, though the Steelers lost.
I used to have long commutes. Now, I work less than a mile from home. I do like that much better. Hope you have a wonderful week!
One of the few things I miss about working is listening to audiobooks on the commute. Love seeing Azula again!
Driving in cities is never easy, that’s why I always take the train to Manhattan. My daughter lives in Chicago, and uses mass transit almost all the time too. At least there is the silver lining of audiobooks. I have that dedicated commuting time to read as well (3 hours a day). I have to focus on the god part. Hope you have a great weekend!
Thank you! I definitely wish Pittsburgh had better public transportation.
Too bad about all the construction that mars your otherwise enjoyable time to listen to audiobooks. I do enjoy seeing Azula looking so comfortable. My daughter just moved to the east coast of Canada and uses public transit. She is excited to take the ferry to work (the bus gets on it), but I’m sure the novelty will wear off. Have a wonderful week.
