Happy Tuesday, book friends! I’m back with another Top 5 Tuesday, and I’m pretty excited about this week’s topic–books we planned to read this year but haven’t gotten to yet. I have quite a number of boIoks I’m genuinely excited about, but haven’t gotten to.
Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Bionic Bookworm, now hosted by Meeghan Reads. If you’re interested in participating, check out their blog to get the details and the prompts for each week.
Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood
Like many a person, I adored The Love Hypothesis and was super excited for Love on the Brain. But for some reason, I keep putting off picking it up. I think it’s a combination of anticipation and the fact that Hazelwood’s Steminist novellas fell a bit short for me.
I Came All This Way to Meet You: Writing Myself Home by Jami Attenberg
Since I first read All Grown Up , I’ve been a fan of Attenberg’s and hearing that she had a memoir coming out got me all kinds of excited. The book has been sitting on my TBR cart ever since release, waiting for me to decide that it’s time.
The Heartbreak Bakery by A.R. Capetta
I love the premise of this book, wherein a magically gifted chef accidentally bakes breakup brownies that cause couples to separate if they eat them. It was on my failed Witchtober TBR and I haven’t gotten to go back to it yet.
Lease on Love by Fallon Ballard
Remember when people were talking about how great this book is? I sure do. This book is described in marketing copy as “Beach Read meets The Flatshare” and how can I say no to that? Though apparently I can say “not now” to that.
Matrix by Lauren Groff
This is one of those books I always knew it’d take me a while to get to because it’s a bit outside my normal reading habits. Jeff and Rebecca of the Book Riot podcast raved about this one enough that I decided I had to read it. I’m just waiting to be in the mood for a thinky book.
Could I go above and beyond five books for this list? Yes, definitely. But there are the five that I’m most surprised I haven’t actually gotten to yet, so on the list they go. Do you have any books that you wanted to get to this year, but haven’t?
I am so in love with Lease on Love. It was a perfect book for me and has me eagerly awaiting Ballard’s next release. I hope you can find some time for it
Oh that’s good to know! I definitely want to get to it soon.
i love this topic idea and can think of so many books that fit it!
I wrote a post back in July of books I still haven’t read, it was 10 books, and I’ve only now read one of them! The problem is real.
The TBR just keeps on growing!
