Happy Friday, book friends! It’s been an eventful week for Azula and I. Mr. Your Book Friend has been away on a business trip, and my mom was in town visiting. Azula loves her grandma and was super excited every morning to realize she was still here.
We got to take some long walks in the park and enjoy some nice, relaxing evenings on the couch.
We also did some exploring of local shops, which led to finding a place nearby that sells one of my favorite snacks from my study abroad days–Digestives with chocolate coating. You can get Digestives in the international aisle at my grocery, but they only have the plain ones, so I sometimes coat them with chocolate myself. Seeing the premade ones made my day, and I know I’ll be going back to stock up soon.
The last couple of days it’s been raining nonstop, which is always a bit of an adventure when you have a cattle dog. Thankfully there were brief moments when I was able to get her out for short walks to at least maintain her routine, but I did wind up throwing her ball inside for well over an hour to keep her entertained yesterday.
She also got to meet her new vet yesterday, an experience she did not appreciate. She always tries to hide under my chair, but we eventually coaxed her to let the vet take a look at her. This was just a routine visit to establish care, so no suprise that everything looks good. Hopefully the fact that all she got was treats and pets during this visit will make next time a little less scary.
Today, I go pick up Mr. Your Book Friend at the airport, and I’m sure Azula will be thrilled to see her dad come home. This is the longest he’s been away in a long time, and I think the longest ever since we’ve had Azula.
With all the excitement, I haven’t been reading as much as usual, but I did make some progress here and there. After five days with my extroverted mom, though, I’m very much in introvert recharge mode and have spent most evenings on the couch watching Cutthroat Kitchen on Hulu rather than reading. I’m not mad at it.

That’s it for this week’s Furbaby Friday check in! I hope you’ve had a great week, and a good weekend ahead!
How wonderful that your mom spent so much time with you and was there to keep you and Azula company while you hubby is away. Nothing wrong with taking a break and doing something different. Glad you are now relaxing.
How nice for you to spend some quality time with your Mom. I hope that you have a relaxing weekend and enjoy the time with your hubby.
Azula is so brave going to the doctor. Looks like a good time was had by all.
Oh yummy to Digestives with chocolate coating!! I ate them a lot when I lived in England, but haven’t found any ones here. I’ll have to keep looking. Azula looks wonderful as always.
This is the only place I’ve found them here, outside of a store back in Cincinnati that has a massive international section.
