Book Mail Monday 3/27/2023

Happy Monday, book friends! I can’t believe it’s already the last Monday of March, but here we are. Now that my birthday month is winding down, I’m culling back on buying new books again to keep that TBR stack managable.

NetGalley, requests, though? Not so much. I’m still being mindful about which titles I request, but I’m definitely stacking up the shelves a bit. So for this week’s book mail Monday, let’s take a peek at what requests have recently been approved. Many thanks to NetGalley and to the publishers for these digital review copies!

Let’s Get Quizzical by Kelly Ohlert

When I reviewed Ohlert’s debut, To Get to the Other Side, I said I was interested to see what she did next. And… now I get to find out! This second chance romance features two exes who get paired together on a TV trivia show. I am very here for this as a concept, even if second chance romance is a hard sell for me. Let’s Get Quizzical comes out in October 2023, so I’ve got a moderate chance of actually reading it ahead of publication.

Playing the Witch Card by KJ Dell’Antonia

Dell’Antonia’s The Chicken Sisters was a Reese’s Book Club pick and my introduction to the author. I enjoyed it, so when I saw that her next book was “Practical Magic meets Gilmore Girls” I clicked the request button. G.P. Putnum is generous with their approvals, at least for me, and I was thrilled to see another yes from them in my inbox. Playing the Witch Card comes out in September.

I’m trying very hard to read my ARCs in chronological order of publication, but these two are very tempting new additions to my digital shelves. So, we’ll see where the mood reading takes me.

Hope your week is off to a great start!

  1. Great post!

The first book you mentioned sounds really good! I actually got The Chicken Sisters last year, but haven’t read it yet. Glad to hear it’s a good read!

  2. I was actually surprised to see Ohlert’s book up there. I enjoyed her last book, and this one sounds like fun. The Chicken Sisters were interesting. I want to check out In Her Boots at some point, and yeah, Playing the Witch Card too because witches. Hope both are big hits for you
