Happy Monday, book friends! I had a relatively quiet weekend, as my husband and I don’t really celebrate Easter. Instead, we took a walk at the park and I got a lot of reading and Sims time.
The last week or so has been a huge uptick in PR emails in my inbox, which means a bit of book mail to share. I generally try to be very picky about which ARCs I accept. Even though I’m always flattered when folks reach out to offer review copies, I know myself well enough to know when titles aren’t a good fit, and I will turn them down. That means I’ve got precisely one book to share this week, but it’s one I’m quite excited about!
Physical ARC: The Game Master’s Book of Astonishing Random Tables by Ben Egloff
I was delighted to see this TTRPG companion book in my inbox, so of course I had to check it out! Many thanks to Med Lab Books for the complimentary review copy. I’m not a GM myself, but I enjoy pretending I might be one day, and even a casual flip through shows me how this book could be a huge help in making the world of the game feel more robust and real. I’m excited to read through this one and maybe even get brave enough to run one of the bonus one-shot adventures from the book!
It is compatible with “your faovorite 5th edition RPGs” which I take to mean “this is for D&D but not, like, officially.” The Game Master’s Book of Atonishing Random Tables comes out June 20th of this year.
That’s it for my book mail this week, though I’m eagerly anticipating my Authentic Books box with a copy of The London Seance Society, which should arrive any day now (I hope).
Good for you for knowing which books aren’t a good fit for you!
That looks like a really cool book!
I feel the same way. So flattered! Sometimes the books are a good fit, but I already have too many ARCs for that pub date. Hope you enjoy the new book!
My middle child loves RPGs and has multiple campaigns going. I’ll have to check out that book. It might make for a good future gift. Hope you enjoy it!!
Thank you! It looks like the publisher has several other similar books as well, which I’ll have to check out too!
I checked out the book after your post and saw that as well!
