Hello, book friends! I’ve seen several of you take part in the Quarter Year Crisis book tag, originally created created by Roisin @Roisin’s Reading on YouTube. So, I decided to jump in and take part, as well!
How Many Books Have You Read So Far?
I’ve read 22 books so far, which is maybe not much compared to a lot of book bloggers, but I’m pleased with where I’m at.
Have you already found a book you think might be a 2023 favourite? If not, what was your favourite book you read that wasn’t quite five stars?
I’ve had a couple of potential 2023 favorite reads so far, including Really Good, Actually by Monica Heisey and Weyward by Emilia Hart. We’ll see if they make it to the end of the year as favorites.
Any 1-star books / least favourite book of the year?
I don’t tend to finish books if I’d rate them only one star, but I do have a least favorite book of the year–Witches of America by Alex Mar. It just wasn’t what I hoped it’d be.
Most Read Genres So Far
According to my stats pie chart, I’m at about 27% Romance reads and 22% “General Fiction.” Definitely starting this year with a wider variety of genres than last year, which is cool.
A Book That Surprised You
I’d have to say Weyward, just because I hadn’t even heard of it before publication and then suddenly it was everywhere! I’m so glad I came across it because I loved it.
A book that’s come out in 2023 already that you want to read but haven’t yet?
Definitely The London Seance Society and Romantic Comedy!
One Goal You’re Succeeding At
I’m really pleased with how many books I’ve been reading from my TBR cart. I set the goal of focusing on reading my physical TBR this year, and I’ve stuck with it pretty well.
One Goal You Need to Focus On
Each year I try to tick off at least a few Read Harder tasks. So far this year, I haven’t managed even one of them! That’s a bit unusual for me for so late into the year. I typically tick off a few tasks early on and then forget, not the other way round!
New to you Bloggers/Booktubers/ Bookstagrammers/Booktokers for 2023 you recommend?
Oh, gosh, I’m terrible at keeping track of who’s new to me. There are just so many great folks in the bookish community!
I’m Tagging…
Whoever wants to join in!
There we have it, my quarter of the year check in. Honestly not as painful as I was expecting, even if I am now one book behind in my Goodreads challenge thanks to being in an audiobook slump.
Weyward does sound intriguing and weaves in some interesting time periods
I am really looking forward to Weyward. I’ve seen so many great reviews for it.
