Book Mail Monday 3/20/2023

Happy Monday, book friends! And a happy Spring Equinox to my friends in the Northern Hemisphere. It doesn’t feel too much like spring here in Pennsylvania, not yet, but there are some plants starting to emerge in our yard, so I’ll take it.

I’ve been a bit scarce on the internet this past weekend, as my mom is in town visiting for my birthday so we’ve been out and about. Naturally, this included a trip to Barnes & Noble!

Not too much in the way of new books this week, but mom did buy me a cookbook I’ve been eyeing for a while, Oh She Glows: For Dinner. Mr. Your Book Friend & I checked this one out from the library a while ago and really liked the recipes we tried, so I’m happy to add it to the collection. Having vegan cookbooks around is a must because he doesn’t eat cheese and we try to only have one at-home meal a week that includes meat, so I’m always happy for more veggie forward recipes!

I also got a book-themed Kate Spade mug from a little boutique when we went shopping in a local small town, so all in all, a perfectly bookish birthday weekend.

Hope your week is off to a good start, and that you’ve got a great week ahead!

Happy Monday, book friends! As my birthday approaches I’ve loosened up on my book buying limit a smidge to hashtag treat myself to a few goodies, which means I’ve got some new additions to the TBR stack to share for this week.

On Friday, I did some exploring, visiting our local mall for some mall walking and then heading down the road to Barnes & Noble, which is now my closest bookstore. The location near me is pretty big, and I was impressed with the selection on offer and how they chose to organize their display tables. The cafe section is sizable as well, so I foresee hanging out there a bit in the future.

Naturally, I wandered off to the Romance section to find a nice gift from me to me. While I was browsing to find Amy Lea’s Set On You, which I’ve been wanting to read for a bit, I accidentally also picked up a couple of other anticipated reads that caught my eye before I found what I was looking for. We’ve all been there, am I right?

Largely thanks to the many wonderful reviews from my fellow book bloggers, I also grabbed A Witch’s Guide to Fake Dating a Demon and Off the Map. I’ve seen many great reviews for both, although Off the Map has overall had more mixed reactions. Sometimes I’m actually more interested to read books that have a wide variety of reactions than those with glowing 5 star reviews all around. I get curious to know which side I’ll wind up on after reading and I want to know what has conjured such varied reactions in readers.

These are also all new-to-me authors, so that’s another bonus to grabbing these from the shelves. Have you read any of them? What did you think?
