Book Mail Monday 1/16/2023

Happy Monday, book friends! Over the weekend I finished book number two for the year, and Goodreads informs me I’m already one book behind schedule for my goal. I have, however, been doing a good job of working through my physical TBR and not buying too many new books.

Does that mean I’ve also avoided too many new requests on NetGalley? Yes and no. I definitely have requested a few new titles since my last update, but I’m still be careful about which books I request. Let’s take a look at some of the recent additions ot my digital shelves.

Famous for a Living by Melissa Ferguson

A romance between an Instagram influencer and a social media avoidant park ranger? Sign me up. This comes out in May 2023, wonderful timing for a nice outdoorsy romance.

It’s Not a Cult by Lauren Danhof

The cover of this book caught my eye on NetGalley. I, like many people, find cults fascinating, but I haven’t read many books that feature them. This is a fictional story about a woman whose mother has joined a cult. It comes out in August 2023, so I’ve got a decent chance of actually reviewing it on time.

Same Time Next Summer by Annabel Monaghan

I still can’t believe I got approved for this! I loved Monaghan’s previous book, Nora Goes Off Script, and was stoked to see she’s got another one coming out. This is about a woman running into her first love, fourteen years later. This is a June 2023 release.

That’s about it for me this week! In the coming days, I’ll be doing the opposite of getting new books as we prepare to move houses. It’s time for a reckoning with my book collection and which ones really need to make the journey with us.

Thankfully, ebooks are easy to move so I can keep on filling the Kindle without adding to the number of boxes we have to pack.

Have you gotten any exciting new books this week?

Book Mail Monday 1/9/2023

Happy Monday, book friends! I hope you had a good weekend and that your week is off to a good start.

Last week, I mentioned that I went to a new bookstore to browse for books and ended up grabbing a book I hadn’t heard of while I was there. But the book I couldn’t seem to locate on the shelves was one I’ve been wanting to read for a while–True Biz. I got some gift cards for Christmas, so I figured I’d go ahead and order this book because I’m interested in reading it very soon.

Yesterday, it arrived on my doorstep along with a new external webcam since my personal laptop’s internal one no longer works.

I first heard about True Biz on a podcast I ocasionally listen to called Book Reccos, and it was also a Reese’s Book Club pick. The story follows a teacher at a school for the Deaf, as well as her students, during a particularly tumultuous time. When I heard about the plot, it sort of reminded me of Switched at Birth, a show that also heavily featured students at a school for the Deaf and the regular teenage drama they lived through while also fighting for their school. I loved that show, so I am extra excited to read this book.

That’s it for book mail this week since I really am focusing on my physical TBR at home this year! Do you have any exciting new additions to your shelves?
