Happy Wednesday, book friends! I’m sitting here with my leg elevated on a pillow because your clumsy bookish friend has once again tripped and fallen while walking the dog. In my defense, she was trying to chase a water delivery truck and I was therefore paying attention to her and not to myself. Thankfully I’m not banged up too badly, just a good big scrape on my leg and a bit of a twinge where I rolled my ankle. Azula keeps trying to give me kisses to make it better.
Falling down aside, it’s been a good start to the week, with plenty of reading time! Let’s dig in to the week’s reading updates.
Recent Reads
I finished Cecilia Rabess’ debut, Everything’s Fine*, and it was soooo good. The writing style is compelling and the story is complicated and nuanced. My review went up earlier this week, and the book came out yesterday.
Current Reads
Still on an ARC roll and picked up The Cosy Cat Society* next. I’m not loving this one, but I am intrigued enough by the characters to keep going. The writing involves a lot of comma splices, which is a personal pet peeve of mine, so it takes me out of things a bit. I’m a little over 70% of the way through, so I do believe I’ll finish it soon.
Not much to report on the nonfiction reading front. Same old, same old.
Up Next & On to You
So many books waiting to be read! I’ve been making good ARC progress so I think I’ll read something else from my TBR next, as a treat. What that will be, I don’t know–it all depends on what looks good when I head to the TBR cart to pick my next read.
How about you, book friends? What have you been reading and how is it treating you?
