Top 5 Tuesday: Best Covers of 2022

Happy Tuesday, book friends! I woke up with a sore throat and general tiredness, so I’m a bit out of this morning. I don’t feel too bad, so long as I’m sitting down, so here’s hoping it’s just a mild cold.

This week’s topic for Top 5 Tuesday is the top 5 book covers of the year! Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Bionic Bookworm, now hosted by Meeghan Reads. If you’re interested in participating, check out their blog to get the details and the prompts for each week.

I love this prompt because I feel like readers all have different tastes when it comes to covers, so I’m sure there will be a lot of variety. Here are my favorite covers (that I can think of at the moment) from the year.

Legends & Lattes (Hardcover Edition) by Travis Baldree

I read this book on audio, but am very tempted to buy a copy of this hardcover re-release. I just love the fun, chalkboard-inspired look of this one and how it ties in with the story.

Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus

This cover is so eye-catching, and I think it does fit the vibe of the book in a weird way, even if the book does tackle some heavier topics than the salmon-colored cover might imply.

I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

I can’t decide if I love or hate this cover, but I can’t deny that it’s eye-catching and provacative. McCurdy smiling and posing with a bright pink urn, set against the yellow backdrop, just pops. There’s also a retro vibe to the cover design that somehow works really well with the fact that she was a child star on Nikelodeon (side note: in their reiews, a lot of people keep mis-identifying her as a Disney star and this really irks me, for some reason?)

The Kiss Curse by Erin Sterling

There’s just something about the covers for this series. They’re fun and a little bit witchy while still capturing that Bookstagram darling contemporary romance vibe.

To Get to the Other Side by Kelly Ohlert

When I requested this book on NetGalley, it was largely because of the fantastically fun cover with a woman chasing a chicken across the road. I mean, how can you not want to read that?

Have I forgotten or left off some phenomenal covers? I’m sure I have. What are some of your favorites from the year?
