Top 5 Tuesdays: Books with Keys

This week’s prompt is Top 5 books with keys on the cover. I was able to think of the first one right away from memory, but after that, things got difficult. As in, I scrolled through pages of Goodreads searching for books I’ve read with keys on the cover and came up short. I could think of a few books that seemed like they could have keys on the cover, like The Flatshare which features a shared apartment, but alas, no keys on the cover.

Then, I googled it to see if that would jog my memory. A lot of those books seem to be thrillers, which I don’t typically read, which may explain a bit of why I’m coming up keyless from my own memory and TBR. Regardless, I apparently don’t read a lot of books that feature keys on the cover, which means we’ve got a Top Two Tuesday today.

Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen

I thought of this one immediately, since it actually has “key” in the title as well as on the cover. I was huge Sarah Dessen fan as a middle and high school student, and while I don’t remember this one being a particular favorite, I did enjoy it.

Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen

My edition of this book is one of those beautiful cloth covers, and the pattern is a bunch of pink keys. So, this one totally counts! It also happens to be one of my favorite Jane Austen books.

Clearly, I need to know about the books you’ve read with keys on the cover, since I’m coming up blank!

Top 5 Tuesday: Rainy Day Reads

Happy Top 5 Tuesday, book friends!

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Bionic Bookworm, now hosted by Meeghan Reads. If you’re interested in participating, check out their blog to get the details and the prompts for each week!

This week’s prompt is rainy day reads! I love reading on a rainy day, particularly during a thunderstorm. But thinking of specific books that are good for reading in the rain? That’s a tough one! Let’s see what I can come up with.

Hawksong by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes

This is the ultimate comfort read for me and was my favorite book when I was younger. I’ve read my copy so many times, it’s a miracle it hasn’t fallen apart. These days, I can read it pretty easily in the span of a day, and the thought of curling up under the blankets with it on a rainy day sounds super cozy.

Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling

Sometimes, rainy days can a bit gloomy, particularly if you have several in a row. Mindy Kaling never fails to make me laugh out loud, and this audiobook is a good one when I need a little bit of imaginary sunshine on a rainy day.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

The rain sometimes makes me want to pretend technology doesn’t exist, and what better way to travel to a pre-television past than with Jane Austen?

Something Witchy

I can’t think of a specific title, so this is more of a vibe. When the weather is raging, I love to read about witches and magic. There’s something about rain that makes magic feel a little more possible, don’t you think?

Whatever I’m Currently Reading

Clearly, I don’t strongly associate particular types of books with rainy weather. I just like to curl up with whatever I’m currently reading when the rain comes down, so I’m cheating and making this my fifth pick.

Those are my rainy day picks for the week! What about yours?
