Happy Friday, book friends! We started the week with no power, but thankfully it was restored on Monday night, so the rest of the week has been relatively normal. We spent the workday at my in-laws’ house, and Azula had a lot of fun stealing every toy that Uncle Dewey has. He was less enthused.
Azula got plenty of walks in the subdivision behind our house, and she’s even getting comfortable enough with her new surroundings that she doesn’t constantly look ongingly back towards home. She’s been pretty energetic the last few days, I think grateful that the house is warm and bright again.
I took a bit of time off reading on Tuesday to enjoy having power and internet, but I kept right on with my morning reading routine and am slowly making my way through Witches of America. This morning I learned I am possibly related to the founder of a tradition the author is researching, since he is descended from the Blue Fugates, as am I. So that was interesting to discover.
This weekend, we’ll be doing some cleaning around the house as we’re having friends over to play board games on Sunday. Andy got a new board game as a housewarming gift, and he’s very excited to be able to play it (it requires 3-4 people and we’ve yet to teach Azula to play board games with us).
My birthday is a week from today, and it feels like it’s coming especially quicky this year. My mom is coming to visit for a few days to celebrate and see our new house, so that will be a fun time. I’ve got one more week to make jokes about being 30, flirty, and thriving before I turn over to 31.
