Happy Thursday, book friends! Just a short and sweet post from me today as I’m busy cooking Thanksgiving food with my family. This holiday is all about being thankful and showing gratitude, and I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for being my book friends.
When I re-launched my book blog last year, I wasn’t sure what to expect. My old blog never had too much of a following, and I didn’t know how many people were still out there blogging about books. It’s been such a pleasure connecting with other book lovers and getting to know so many fellow book bloggers.
Thank you for making this little bookish corner of the internet so great! Happy Thanksgiving to my book friends who celebrate and a happy regular old Thursday to those who don’t.
Hello, book friends! For a long time, I’ve been interested in keeping up with what’s going on in the book world. Occasionally, I’ve written one-off pieces where I provide some general commentary on a piece of book news I found interesting.
Now, I’m making my relationship to providing not even remotely objective tidbits about book news semi-official and soft launching a new column here at Your Book Friend.
Book News Corner will release on Saturdays and will be a sort of potpurri of interesting news and happenings related to books, reading, and book-adjacent interests.
This is an experiment, and we’ll see how it goes! Now, let’s talk about some bookish happenings from the previous week.
Book of the Month Announces their Book of the Year Winner
Every year, wildly popular bookish subscription service Book of the Month, has their subscribers vote to select the best book of the year. The caveats here of course are that the book has to have been one of the titles offered by BOTM, and that as far as I can tell, only BOTM subscribers (of which I am one) can vote. Nevertheless, I am zero percent surprised to share that readers have selected…
Tomorrow, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin.
This book has been all over the bookish internet and most of the reviews I’ve seen have been incredibly positive to gushing. The synopsis gives me shades of Free Guy with best friends working together on a video game but also maybe some romance? It’s on my TBR, and this reminds me I really do intend to get around to it.

The Gift Guides are Coming!
This is perhaps not news if you, like me, happily fork over your email address to any and all newsletters related to your interests. But, several bookish gift guides have made their way onto the scene this past week. I’m sharing a few here because I think they’re a ton of fun to peruse:
Book Riot rounded up several different book gift recommendation articles in their Holiday Gift Guide
Bookshop.org released several holiday gift guides on their website
Essentially, if you’re shopping somewhere that has books, they probably have a gift guide you can peruse for ideas. Many book bloggers are also hard at work with their own gift guides, which often include affiliate links that support their work, so maybe give your favorite internet book people’s sites a browse, too.
