What We’re Reading Wednesday, October 19th

Happiest of Wednesdays, book friends! There’s a chill in the air here in Pittsburgh and yesterday we got a bit of snow, or so I’m told (my office does not have windows). The leaves are turning and falling gracefully from the trees, a sight that never quite gets old for me.

This weekend I’m back to Virginia for my best friend’s wedding, and I’m looking forward to that beautiful mountain drive again now that the leaves have really turned. My husband will be along for the journey this time, so audiobook time is unlikely, but we’ll certainly get caught up on our podcasts.

Speaking of audioboooks, I cried yesterday on my way to work and on my drive home while listening to my book, which is perhaps one of the more Pisces things I routinely do. I haven’t done a ton of reading lately, but the reading I’ve done has certainly been emotional.

Recent Reads

Last night, I finished Lucy on the Wild Side. I have to say I think this is going to be one of my favorite books of the year.

It’s a lovely romance with good character development and personal growth at its heart, and it’s set in my beloved home state of Ohio. It made me cry buckets before work which was perhaps a bit awkward, but I love a book that gets the waterworks going because it means I’ve become invested. I’ve not written a full review of it yet, but I probably will, so stay tuned.

Current Reads

My friend Mel and I continue to work our way through From Bad to Cursed. I’m liking it a bit better now than I was at the start, though I still don’t like it nearly as well as I liked the first book. I’m invested in the mystery of it all now, at least, so there’s that.

Truthfully I’ve spent a lot more time reading the on-screen text for Stardew Valley than anything this week. As soon as it gets cold my cozy gaming self awakens and demands we return to Farm Farm (yes, I’m very creative when I name things in videogames).

Up Next & On to You

I am feeling a bit panicked about my spooky TBR, if I’m honest. I want to read more witchy books during peak spooky season, even though I know I’m allowed to read them after Halloween as well. Hopefully I’ll get to one or two more from the stack before we enter November, but we’ll have to wait and see.

What about you, book friends? Have you been reading anything good lately?
